SHOW NOTES

In this week’s Mind ReMapping Moment, I am joined by a good friend and one of my colleagues, Dr. Taniqua Miller. We are discussing her focus on helping women of color quit what they need to quit in life.

· What are the things we need to be quitting?

· What are the things we, as black women and women of color, hold onto that we do not need to hold on to anymore?

· How can I get back to myself?

These and many more await you in this week’s special episode with Dr. Taniqua, a board-certified OB/GYN and national-certified menopause practitioner. As a little girl growing up in the Bronx, she learned firsthand the importance of owning your true self. Through her educational platform, TaniquaMD, she empowers women of color to embrace boundless midlife. In this episode, she will discuss QUIT- an acronym she used to help her. Today, we will also learn about her own experiences and challenges regarding self-worth.

Quitting
Most of the time, our self-worth is tied to our achievement; in this world, self-worth is inherited. But when you are living a life, and you realize that a lot of what you are doing is what gets you attention, a lot of what you are doing is what gets you that feeling of worth, it is tough to walk away from that.

Understanding the consequences
So many times, we make decisions about doing things because of what we’re afraid others will think. Understanding the consequence of your stay or your go is essential. Sit with that vulnerability to realize that if you walk away, who will you be on the other side? There is always a choice; you just have to understand the consequences of the selection.

Relearning How to Listen to Yourself
When we lean into our intuition, we honor ourselves; we keep the deepest parts of us that know us so well that we know we need them. Sometimes it is tough to see if it’s intuition because, for so long, it has been beaten out of us to trust that inner voice. To relearn how to listen to yourself is so powerful and uplifting, and it is like freedom.

We must challenge ourselves to leave things that no longer serve us. Let us quit that, take everything that drives that passion, and put it into something that moves us and makes us feel empowered. The more you start quitting, the more it becomes like a game.
