SHOWNOTES:
In this week’s Mind ReMapping Moment, I am joined by Dr. Donna G. MD, owner of the company, Female Matters. We are discussing how menopause is not the beginning of old age but the beginning of our best era.
· What are we transitioning to?
· What are our expectations going into the Menopausal stage?
· What can we do to ease the emotions of one undergoing menopause?
These and a lot more await you in this week’s special episode with Dr. Donna G., an OB-Gyne also called the Gyne Guru. In this episode, she will teach us the positive side of the menopausal stage and how talking about our mood changes is essential. Today, we will learn about the importance of having information about menopause and how one should handle being in a Menopausal Stage.
Why do we need to know about menopause?
Menopause is the time that marks the end of a woman’s menstrual cycle. It is the stage where women aged 45-55 experience sudden mood changes due to hormonal changes. Having information about menopause is essential so we can seek professionals to help and guide us as we go through this stage.
Getting into menopause is a prize, an accomplishment
Many women die from childbirth, so getting into menopause gives us a life expectancy of 30 more years. Now, we do not have hormones going up and down, and we don’t have to risk pregnancy. We can have a hormonal background that encourages us to think about ourselves, which makes menopause our best age!
Reframing the Menopausal stage as a new phase of life and stability
Understanding that we will be going through this and knowing that this is the beginning of something new will depend on how we see what we are transitioning to. You can see it as a transformation to old age or a new birth of our best era. Instead of thinking of it as a loss, we can see it as a phase with much more stability and life that accompanies us with wisdom.
Many women have never put themselves first and need to make a decision that resonates with their spirit. Women, especially mothers, need to know that when childbearing is done, the fertility phase is gone; it doesn’t mean your life is over. They need to know that they are more than just what goes in and out of your vagina!
