SHOW NOTES:

In This week’s Mind ReMapping Moment, we talk about How Collective Limiting Beliefs Limit Our Potential.
We first encounter group thinking as young people where we have cliques as teenagers and probably even before then, during the preteen adolescents. In the group think everybody basically thinks the same way, they agree upon things the way to be, the way to act, what you should do, what to wear, how to talk, what to say, and what to and what not to say, in our society it’s what’s taboo and what’s not taboo, what’s possible and what’s not possible.
When we come together with our thoughts, with our ideas, and we can create something actually quite beautiful when we want to, the problem with collective thought is that it can also open us up to collective limiting belief.
We have to be mindful of being swept away inside of groupthink without questioning the thing that we’re thinking because if we’re always thinking inside the box of how everyone thinks, it opens us up to this collective limiting belief.
One of the reasons as a society, we are so slow to move past the things that harm us as a whole and that harm particular communities is because we’re stuck on doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
When a group of people create categories or create a category way to do things, then that’s where it becomes a group agreement and so we put a box around that category and from inside the box, it’s hard to see new solutions. When you start to exist in a diverse community and welcome the ideas of others, then it helps you be able to pop your head out of that box and see things in it from a different perspective.
Collective limiting beliefs and decisions can be very dangerous for our health, it can be dangerous for the health of whole communities so we have to become very discerning about what we are believing, what suggestions we are accepting from societal collective belief and thought and always be thinking about what is it that we as individuals believe and if that aligns with the collective thinking in the community that we’re in and if it doesn’t, we need to find the community that has that alignment.
If you are unsure and you’re in a community or industry, listen to your body because your body will speak to you if there’s a physical discomfort or a mental and emotional offness where there’s not a matchup then that is a signal from your unconscious to examine your beliefs, your values, what’s important to you, and whether you’re on an aligned path in that way.
Despite what most people realize, it’s the unconscious mind that runs us. But how is that so? Get your first primer in 21 minutes! Follow and Share these pearls with others.
