What is NLP
Neurolinguistic Programming (also referred to as NLP) is a powerful set of tools and techniques that helps you to begin to be at the source of your thoughts, emotions, actions and behaviors therefore giving you access to new powerful results in your life. NLP teaches you how to access to your unconscious programming so that you can essentially “ReMap Your Mind” to create new positive thought and behavior patterns. You can use this personally, and many use it in their work with others (therapy, coaching, parenting, sales, and much more).
How Does NLP Work?
NLP is defined as the study of the structure of subjective language….but what does that mean? Well, it means that NLP is a very powerful behavioral training and reprogramming based on the unconscious mind. It’s about learning how the brain works, and how the language and state of your emotions affect your emotional, belief, learning and behavior processes. It’s used both as an educational and behavioral tool, and a therapeutic process. It works if a person wants to learn to use the brain more effectively and efficiently to achieve particular results in life. NLP is a set of skills that reveals the kind of communication that matters most inside to outside communication.
A Deeper Understanding of NLP
Neuro: Refers to the mind or the brain, particularly regarding how states of the mind in the brain affect communication and behavior. NLP comes up with a structure by developing mental maps that show the brain how things work, so that you can easily shift those things through specific linguistic processes.
Linguistic: Our mind and body states are revealed in language and nonverbal communication all the time. Language is simply a tool that we use to gain access to the inner workings of our mind. Language patterns teach us how to access unconscious information that would otherwise remain vague, unknown and difficult to access.
Programming: Refers to the capacity of changing our mind and body states. So, mostly we just go around living on autopilot. We go full automatic in the way we do things, our habits, thoughts, feelings, language patterns, beliefs, and traditions.
NLP can help you change your behavior by helping you cope with any situation, whether it’s a negative feeling or a negative experience. NLP really helps you to be at the source of your life, eliminating the root causes of negative emotions (anger, fear, sadness, hurt, and guilt). It helps you to eliminate limiting beliefs and decisions, and negative internal dialogues that we often have with ourselves. It also helps you to not only visualize a new future, but also behaviorally helps you to be able to put in place the things that will have it actually happened in your life with velocity.
